Herbert is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside of an enigma.
Herb Lienau hails from beautiful Palm Springs, California. He started his musical journey in 1975 when he began playing trumpet - playing in concert, stage, and marching band from 5th to 11th grade. Around 1977 he began listening to the Dr. Demento show on KMET in Los Angeles via a giant antenna he mounted to the roof of his parent's home. This began his love of the weird, obscure, & demented music he heard there. This was a stepping stone to the world of punk rock in which he immersed himself, with the help of the Rodney on the Roq show on KROQ in Pasadena. His other alter-ego “Robotic Super Computer - Herbie" now host's his own radio show on WFMU called The Forbidden Zone. Click the link on the home page. Throughout High School and beyond he sang and played guitar in many punk rock bands - which brings us to now...
This is alter ego run amok... this is Herbert.
Now in his "Golden Years", Herb has unleashed his alter ego "Herbert". This solo act is loosely based on the 70's Shakey's Pizza piano player... but he dawns a creeepy old man mask and plays demented versions of some of his favorites. "Thank god I finally get to sit down when I play!" - Herbert
